I decided to blog about the fad of computer technology as I got nothing to blog about my happenings. I am bored, and I am suffering from sleeping disorder.

Anyway I ran a 4.6 km today, after months of not running.

I remembered my first PC was a HP, bought from either Courts or Best Denki at Thomson Plaza when I was in sec 4. We didnt have money to buy one, so mum actually borrowed $1500 from a friend, all in the name of wanting her children to do schoolwork and projects. It came with a scanner btw. The computer spec was a AMD k233 Mhz, with 32 ram and 3.2 gb HDD, built in display card and 56k modem.

When the computer first arrived, of course we were excited. But then, we realised there was always this fatal error when you are doing this. I called up friends and the helpdesk to ask about it, and both advised the same thing, that is, to reformat the computer lolz.

In the end, the HP ppl came down and did a motherboard change. Seriously till now I am in awe with these ppl. The tower casing was so small but they are able to swop the motherboard. Well it still didnt work and in the end I had a one-to-one exchange.

Internet was expensive then. I remembered going down to Singtel Braddell to sign up for a staggering price plan. I never wasn't on the 33.6 kbps wave. The phone line had to be extended from the living room to my bedroom when connected to the net. I had 30 hrs per month and it was never enough.

MIRC and ICQ were damn hot. Everyone has it and everyone was using it. IRC channels were filled with ppl looking for gfs and sex. Ppl fight for operator access then. MP3 downloads were at its peak, with channels set up just for ppl to download. Downloads can take hours coz you need to queue.

The search engine, altas vista was the most powerful one, with strong rivalry by Yahoo!. thehun was the most famous pornsites surfed by many. There were no blogs, and you are actually seen technological savy if u own a webste. I had my own website hosted by Singnet on a 3mb web server lolz

Oh porn was never video then. It was always pictures and more pictures.

Look at now. Altas Vista was not longer heard, IRC and ICQ were strangely left out and no one surf porn at thehun anymore. Everyone is using broadband, and Jasmine even branded me as a 56k betrayer when I switched over to the fast channel. Mp3 can be download via website and ppl watch videos as they streamed. Movies are shared so rampantly online. You can get anything on the web nowadays. Books, games, tv dramas, old shows.

Will google loses its ground one day?

Wooah CNY was here and it was gone. Well not exactly gone since CNY is supposed to be 15 days. This yr, CNY falls on Monday and Tuesday, which did no good to the jubilee spirit it supposed to bring.

Nevertheless, I took the whole week off after CNY, and well I did enjoy. The first day, as usual was going to Sherry's house for relatives visiting. The night was well-spent with the guys at St James.

I did nothing much on the 2nd day of CNY apart from catching a movie with Sherry later in the night. The next few days was rotting and mahjong and mahjong. I didnt win much in gambling, but then my stakes were small. However I realised I got some pretty good tiles when it comes to mahjong.

Oh just before the CNY I bought a scanner cum printer and it had given a pair of Logitech speakers as free gifts. My monitor died on me a few days ago and I brought a second-hand monitor for $50 from a friend. Heh I got a good deal I guess.

Oh I know I am always late for new technological change. I just got my DVD writer installed. Before that, I can't even play DVD on my desktop lolz. Here's the DVD writer Shari bought for me on Valentine's day. And I am so going to burn my Friends seasons into it.

Now I got 2 roms, CD writer and DVD writer.

After much delay, I have finally got a new graphics card for my computer. The old one is giving me loads of problems, keep on hanging when I am viewing videos and certain games dun run on it. Even old games wun run on it.

I also got a new power supply as well, to fix my low power problem. So now my computer is finally up and running well. I still have got the skills to fix a computer after so many years.
